    How can Roaring Women help?

Our business is to understand marketing.  As a business owner your job is to know your business.  Marketing s a complex task and takes years of research with constant measurement.  So we have provided some information below for you!

Have you re-examined your marketing materials lately?

When you are handing our flyers or placing ads and not getting the response you expected then it is time to take a good look at your marketing materials.

The issue most businesses face concerning marketing materials is that they look at how 'pretty' the materials look - and forget that it is the WORDS that sell  a product or invite a potential client to make an inquiry or purchase.

Read the sections below for a few tips when designing or reviewing your materials for print:

    Business Cards

    • Make sure you can lay a twenty-five cent piece (quarter) on your business card without touching any lettering (white space helps people see what is written)
    • Place several tips on the back of the card and direct recipient to sign up for more online
    • Do not hand out 'free' cards.  (cards that have a printing company's name on the back of the card)
    • Whenever possible - have your PROFESSIONAL photo on your card
    • List only one email address per card (related to your website if possible
    • Have your cards professionally designed and printed

    Flyers

Flyers can be expensive to print - especially when they are in full colour and on good paper.  Many can cost as much as $1.50 per flyer)  In many cases - they are a waste of money unless it is necessary to deliver a significant amount of information to the client before a purchase.

(Even flyers at a trade show can be a waste of money.  Think about how many flyers you have picked up and then tossed in the garbage before you really read the flyer!)

Try using the postcard option instead of a flyer.  They are more cost effective and can also be mailed out.

Copy - or the writing on the flyer should be carefully constructed and have a call to action, redirect to a website and/or offer free reports or tips lists.

Don't forget to include a coupon code to measure your marketing efforts!

    Advertising copy

Placing an ad in the local newspaper?  Most business owners allow the graphic artist at the newspaper create the ad - and this can be a big mistake!

A newspaper's primary business is to SELL advertising to support the articles printed.  Many of the graphic artists employed by the paper are talented artists who can make an ad LOOK great.  But this does not necessarily sell your product or service!  When possible:
    • Have a copy writer write your copy then send this copy to the graphic artist
    • Never place your logo at the top pf the ad.  People care about the offer - not your logo
    • Have a limited time offer
    • Have a coupon code to measure your marketing
    • Send the reader to a place they can download a coupon or something of value
    • Ask for a corner positioning on the page
    • Use text in the ad to attract attention
    • make the ad look like an article - more likely to be read
    • Use quotations in the ad - people are attracted to 'quotes'.
