"Where your talents and the needs of the world cross, there lies your vocation" - Aristotle

Dear Roaring Women  Reader,

I have often wanted to spend time with several of the great business leaders of our day - and thanks to the generosity of a business colleague, I get to spend the day with Jack Canfield of the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" series.  I will be bringing all of what I learn from Jack Canfield to the Rebuilding the Dream Event in Hamilton October 16th and 17th.  So far we have attendees coming from Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, St. John's, Port Dover, Toronto, Cambridge and all over the GTA.  So it will be great place to expand your contact list!

For those wondering what the event will really offer - we have listed 21 reasons below.  The speakers include "Papa Zen" Allan Holender who will be speaking and also training on how you can make your business m more "zen-like" and how that will benefit you.  Rick Spence of the Financial Post will also be giving out great information on how to get the attention of the media - and how important small business is to the economy and what you need to do to ensure it's growth.

In addition I will be teaching everything I know about how to align your business with your values and passion and how to set and achieve goals using some great tools I have used for years.  Now you will see how Roaring Women has grown like it has and how easily you can use these strategies for goals you set for yourself.

There are also 12 different break out sessions to choose from, gift bags, door prizes and a very unique futuristic evening that will inspirational and loads of fun!

If you are thinking about or planning on attending - please order you tickets now - we need to advise the caterer and get break out rooms organized.  Discounts will NOT be offered after at October 5th at midnight.  Regular tickets are 237.00 and 267.00 for members and non members respectively  More information here  Special RW Prices here

Words of wisdom

The principle of business that brings the most satisfaction is that of service.  When we marry our talents and desires with a 'need' - and serve our fellow man with truth and integrity - we all win.

Leonardo da Vici said. "Make your work to be in keeping with your purpose". His work still serves mankind.

When we set ourselves looking for the next best opportunity that has our brainwaves blinking dollar signs, and we go after the opportunity with the idea of how much we will make instead of how this service will 'serve' someone, we have lost before we start.

Let our question first be "How will this business serve mankind, my community, my planet?"  The money my friends will follow most certainly.

If your business is always about serving - it will always have the same name: Abundance.

I received a great response to a blog I wrote:

Mandie,
Thank you for this post. I heard you talk about the importance of marketing in a down turned economy about six months ago...and I took your advice.

Over the summer I sent a targeted card campaign to potential customers through SendOut Cards; I placed two ads in the local Women in Business sections of newspapers; and I started three eNewsletters for different audiences.

The dollars and time I spent on marketing are starting to pay off now that everyone is back to work.

This week I had two calls for information on my coaching services from people who found me on the internet.

Thanks for all your advice and for helping me grow my business.

The games business owners play - are we really being honest with ourselves?

Maybe it's middle age - but I seem to be doing a lot of ranting lately.

But the amount of 'junk' I hear daily from business owners has me wanting to stir the pot a little - maybe just be honest about how I feel about it.  I mean really - can't anyone be honest any more?
