This past week we had several adventures on our way to Winnipeg and learned a thing or two about business along the way!   We left on Sunday morning with the Coaching Coach and headed to Winnipeg to deliver a Small Business Seminar for Grand and Toy. 

After driving several hours we approached a small town in Saskatchewan (Assiniboia) that had a camping symbol by the highway.  We decided to stop for the night.  We followed the signs to the campground only to find it locked up - not yet open for the season.  I sighed as I envisioned another night at the side of the road in 'no man's land' falling asleep to the charming sounds of 18 wheelers rumbling by.  But instead I was to learn a valuable lesson or two. We all know that if our businesses remain stagnant - we will soon be out of business!  So how do we make sure that we keep things current and fresh?

Here are a few ideas for you:

• Carry a notebook with you at all times.  Make note of any great marketing ideas you come across - and think about how you can use them in your business.
• Look at some of the services or products that other unrelated industries use - and adapt the idea to fit your business
• Make the first day of every month the day to try a new marketing idea.  This way you will have tried 12 new marketing ideas - Some of them are bound to make a difference.
• Give away ideas - it forces you to be creative and find more new ones!
• Take some time off - to rejuvenate.  you will be amazed what ideas come your way!

Some of my best ideas came from other industries and happened when I was taking time off.  And I still have a file FULL of ideas that might take me a lifetime to use up - or I Might just give them away.

DOn't let your business fall into that same old, same old rut.  New ideas keep us excited about our businesses - and enthusiasm always sells!
