Did
you know it is 'National Clean off Your Desk
Day" today - and as soon as I send out
this newsletter I will be doing just that! Seriously
though, many of us laugh about our desks, however, how
many times have you misplaced a cheque, lost an order,
or forgotten an appointment because the messy desk swallowed
those important pieces of paper? (Victoria
meeting this month is about uncluttering your life!)
After
I left policing - my first business was a professional
organizing business. I encountered many people whose
desks we piled high with business cards, bills, envelopes,
unopened mailed, projects that had started and sticky
notes. Many of them said they just did not have
TIME to clean their desks off. (which
is why I wrote my first book)
Sticky
notes are one of the worst things you can use for reminders.
In fact I saw many people with so many stick-it notes
posted - they did not even see them any more - they
just became part of the scenery.
- Here
are a few tips for you:
- Stack
all mail near a dedicated mail area
- Keep
stamps, cards and envelopes in a mail area for quick
correspondence
- keep
a running journal, or notebook with tasks listed (I
have a spiral one next to my computer with stuff to
do)
- Have
a rolling file nearby so you can file things quickly
when you are done with them
- Keep
one file for receipts and as you gather them - place
them in there - the newest at the front
- Schedule
5 minutes at the END of every day to tidy up. Nothing
is nicer than a clear desk to start with in the morning!
Remember
too much clutter can block good energy - so clean off
that desk. Who knows what you might find!

Want to see just how often the search engines

spiders are finding all kinds of things about us on
the web. This is as a result of our blogs, radio
shows and links. Google alerts come into your
inbox once a day and advise you when their search engines
pick up your info/web site - whatever you decide.
