Notes From Mandie's Desk November 21st , 2008

Dear

People have often asked me how I can jump out of bed and race to work every day. It is because I have these great little rituals that I do that make me smile! Most days I get up by 5:00 a.m and get ready, have a scrambled egg and pour coffee into my favorite pink coffee thermos and jump into my 'Roaring Van' and head to the office. I am in the office and firing up the computer by 6:20 a.m. at the latest. My little routine revolves around my cute pink thermos. I love it. It makes me feel pretty and successful. It is my morning comfort.

All the way to work I go to that special place in my mind where I have created my destination. I re-create my living space. my office, my day and even add a limousine arriving at my door to pick me up. In other words, I spend 20 minutes creating my future - visually. That alone puts me in a great mood.

When I arrive at the office, I am usually the first one here. I like coming in first because I get to set the tone for my day before anyone else gets here. I unlock the door, hang up my coat and head straight to the bubble gum machine I have on my desk! Then I decide which colour of double bubble I want that day and then with a look over my shoulder to make sure no one sees, I CHEAT and open the top of the machine and take the colour I want for the day. Then I dive into my work blowing bubbles and tapping my foot to the music on K-lite FM that I have streaming in on my computer and listen to Peter Jaycock's morning show! This whole routing makes me feel like a kid again - and brings some silly excitement to my day!

HOW CAN MY DAY GET ANY BETTER?

Success begins on the inside - just like happiness does. Over the next year - 2009, we will be focusing on creating success from the inside out. And we are launching this with a BIG BANG!

NEW CONTEST : Today we are starting 2009 early! We are creating our vision for the next year. How? The coaches here at Roaring Women are all creating VISION Boards. This is just a piece of bristol board where we have pasted in a collage format, all the things we want to achieve. On it you can also write words that represent you visions or destinations for 2009. So we have issued a challenge to everyone who receives this newsletter.

Send us a picture of your vision board (also called a dream board). The ROAR Board coaches will all vote on the best dream board submitted and the winner will receive a $250.00 cheque from Roaring Women.

This is a contest where EVERYONE wins! You can read more about Vision Boards here.

We asked this question....

I attended two meetings this week where I asked everyone to write down the first thing that came to mind when I asked the following questions.

  • Fifteen dollars
  • Fifty dollars
  • Five hundred dollars
  • One thousand dollars
  • Ten thousand dollars
  • One hundred thousand dollars

People then told the rest of the crowd what things they thought of when these numbers were mentioned. The number one answer for fifteen dollars was "a bottle of wine". The number one answer for fifty dollars was a manicure, pedicure or massage. As the number got higher, the personal rewards increased. Only when we reached the hundred thousand dollar mark did I begin to hear a lot of people say that they would invest that amount.

Now, let me diverse just a little. in the last several weeks, with the scare of a recession, we have had a number of women call expressing that they were cutting back and to discontinue their membership for now. At first I was perplexed. Then I realized that these people did not see the value in our organization nor were they serious about their own. So this was my reason for asking people what they thought of when I mentioned fifteen dollars. Our membership rates vary from $9.95 to $24.95 month. Included in this monthly fee is Google ranking, a monthly workshop valued at $24.99. Add to that discounts, programs, free information, mentorship, referrals and we offer more value that the monthly fee by far. So thank you to those of you who encourage me every week and realize the value of this organization!

So here are some suggestions for any business and how they can allocate their money in times of economic uncertainty.

  • Get out and see your clients - let them know you are there to help
  • Network more often - make sure people know your business is still open
  • Invest in items that are drastically marked down. Many places will be trying to clear out stock - watch for those bargains on things you have been thinking about for your business.
  • Focus on where you are going, not the bumps in the road.
  • Understand that this is how the markets work. Sometimes things are up, sometimes they are down. This is normal.
  • Take good care of your clients. We should do this all year round, but now it is even more important. Give them the gift of your time!

In the end, after you have done all these things, know that you have taken good care of your business. And when you take good care of your business when times are tough, it will take care of you later! Ask yourself what does your business meant to. Is it worth it to spend $24 a month on? (Of course it is)

Now that you have taken good care of your business go ahead and enjoy that bottle of wine!

SO much more than just networking...what else does your membership now offer?

We are always adding benefit to your membership - but here is one you will LOVE!

I have made an executive decision. Not all members can afford the in depth coaching that we offer. So for all members, I will be adding one of our workshops that we have for sale into your members area every month. For 30 days you will have access to this workshop - and can view it and interact with it as many times as you like.

These workshops sell for $24.99 and up - but members will get one a month at no cost. Although they are NOT the advanced workshops we offer at the ROAR Boards, they have incredible information and value.

No other organization can offer something like this. Sure they may have a great speaker. And maybe they offer you a workshop you can attend for a fee every month. But no one will give their members the opportunity to learn valuable information like this that will help their company grow for no charge!

"Wow. Great workshop! It was easy to follow and had a lot of information that I had not considered before! It was really worth more than $24.99." S.F. - BC

"I really appreciate all the information in the 'Not for Nerds' workshop Mandie. Yes, after watching it twice, I finally got things figured out! B.B. - Alberta

Check out your members area - the workshop for this month is "Perfecting your Infomercial" You will find it when you click on 'file' in your members area.

This workshop has been added at this time - MC. If you do not see it in your member area - call me at 1 888 726 3361.

COACHING CORNER

Keeping fit and healthy is very important to me and my ability to succeed as a communications consultant.

When my diet is poor, my thinking and ability to be creative suffers; when my activity levels drop, my body hurts and I can’t concentrate.

To help me stay healthy, my husband and I schedule time every morning to workout together.

This isn’t easy because neither of us likes routine and we’d rather do anything than exercise!

Over the years we’ve used a variety of exercise videos to motivate us but we got bored with most of them after a few weeks. This summer we purchased WiiFit which combines the fun of video-games with exercise. It gives us feedback on our weight, center of balance, and progress in the exercises we choose to do – yoga, strength, aerobics and balance games. Every morning we get up, have some fresh juice and workout together for 30-60 minutes.

When one of us is on the WiiFit, the other rides a stationary bike…and we talk! We plan our day, discuss projects and figure out what activities we need to do to meet our business goals and objectives. When we’re done, if we have time, we have some breakfast together, but most days we go into our separate home offices and get to work.

Combining exercise and business planning every morning keeps me alert and focused for the rest of the day.
