Prior to becoming a stay-at-home mother
Yvonne prepared customized surgical packages. Having
taken shop and auto mechanics courses in her youth,
Yvonne enrolled in the Women in Skilled Trades program
because she was excited about the opportunity to learn
construction techniques and how to use power tools
safely and effectively – she wanted to know
that she could handle anything related to construction
and repairs on her own.
Yvonne worked out in the renovation
industry and realized all she was learning from men
was what not to do, with a lack of integrity, poor
workmanship and no understanding for a mother, Yvonne
set out to make things right, she started her company
Total Confidence. Her goal is to empower women like
she feels everyday, she wants women to be independent
and self reliant. "It goes deeper than just using
tools." Her company enables women to further
their self confidence through the use of power tools,
and teaches them how they can feel confident in their
daily life.
Yvonne hopes to expand her business
and be able to assist sole support women to find affordable
housing.
Yvonne enjoys sharing her experiences
with young women and is available to speak to groups
of young girls and women considering career options.
