If your home is your biggest investment than it just makes sense that you would want to get the most out of that investment if you ever decided to sell your home doesn't it? Did you know that if you have a home stager assist with "creating the setting" when it's time to sell your house the statistics prove that your home will sell faster and for more money than a home that has not been staged?
That's what Kathleen Hamel wants you to know about her business. As a home stager she has seen first hand how much more money clients have in their pockets after a home has been staged and put up for sale. Kathleen is very passionate about this business. In fact, she's so passionate about what she does that, when offered a last minute chance to go to a course in Vancouver she cancelled our appointment, hopped aboard the ferry on a day that made ferry riding very challenging and made her way to the course.
Kathleen is an artist in her true right. The first thing I noticed when I went to Kathleen's website, www.kathleenhamelinteriors.ca, was the warm and cheery feeling on the first page. Her beautiful murals create great spaces for both children and adults alike. That same warmth and comfort come across in Kathleen’s voice when we finally connect upon her return home from her professional staging course. She has a soothing manner about her and a wonderful sense of humour. It's no wonder her clients, mostly real estate agents are so comfortable when Kathleen arrives to begin her work.
Kathleen's clients understand that she is reliable, accessible and ethical. There is no concern from them when they leave their home while she does her magic. In times that are stressful, and house selling is one of those times, it's important to have somebody who can honour timelines and deadlines which is something Kathleen Hamel strives to do for her clients.
Kathleen tells me that one of the reasons she loves what she does is the "helping" element. "People want to move on but there's no way to move toward their vision when their property is not sold." Kathleen is so passionate about this work that she is going to start offering workshops to real estate agents to show them the value of home staging for their own clients.
I ask Kathleen why she decided to join Roaring Women in Victoria. "I like the idea of women supporting other women. She was also drawn to the three components of supporting businesses that are so much a part of Roaring Women: education, coaching and mentorship." Indeed!
One further question for Katheen before we go. Do you have any pets? She answers yes, a 7 1/2 year old black lab named Shadow....He is her reason for getting out into the woods and among the trees that she loves so well. They live at a lake and Kathleen and Shadow spend a lot of time together walking in the woods and reflecting on what's next, what's past and what's here right now. Kathleen likes change and she likes variety and she reflects that perfectly in her business, Kathleen Hamel Interiors, and especially in her home staging division of her company.
