Being a global thinker helps Tina Wong-Nielsen care deeply about the health of every woman she knows, and does not know. Her home-based business and charitable work for Plexus Worldwide Inc. is raising awareness about breast cancer for women near and far.
Several loved ones in Tina’s life have been touched by cancer. Consequently, the married mother of two eagerly fundraises and generates awareness around the early detection of breast cancer. She walks 60 kil. during the Weekend to End Breast Cancer and recently took her charitable and awareness-raising efforts beyond her day job as a Training Co-ordinator. Tina became an ambassador and senior investor for Plexus Pink to fulfil a mission of not only putting a Breast Chek Kit in every woman’s hand in the world, but also ensuring they use it. In fact, every woman on Tina’s Christmas list received a kit this year.
“Breast cancer is totally treatable if found early,” said Tina. “Yet many women don’t do self examinations or go to the doctor because some subjects are taboo. We still don’t want to talk of our breasts or vaginas, and when people don’t talk about it, they also do not want to be responsible for their health.”
Every three minutes a woman is told she has breast cancer somewhere in North America. If Tina has her way, an increasing amount of those women will have discovered an abnormality in their breast earlier in their breast through a breast self-exam with the Breast Chek Kit. FDA approved and medically endorsed, this kit is placed on the breast and is about the size of a computer mouse pad and acts like a magnifying glass to your fingertips as you do your monthly checks allowing you to possibly detect lumps, bumps or anything extraordinary. Mostly available through donation, the kits are often purchased by faith-based organizations, non-profit and businesses of all sizes for free distribution throughout the world to women-at-risk. Plexus Worldwide Inc. will then match and donate one Breast Chek Kit for every two kits donated.
True to Tina’s altruistic nature, she seeks to establish some Kindness and Giving Circles in her native Vancouver area where other women can meet, share and acquire more knowledge about breast cancer prevention and detection. Tina is also willing to help others start their own fundraising work for charitable and business purposes. Utilization of the Internet makes the distribution of Plexus life-saving products possible throughout the world.
“I’m really passionate about this. I want to expose as many people as I can to information about breast cancer because I want the best for everyone,” says Tina who comes by this helpful, heartfelt attitude after a successful career managing medical clinics. Tina is currently a Trainer Co-ordinator for Peak Potentials Training, a company that produces motivational events on personal growth topics in North America and Asia. The company is known for its inspirational courses such as Millionaire Mind Intensive and Enlightened Warrior Training Camp.
Tina continues her life-long acquisition of information about personal health care, which helps her educate and inform others around the world. “Who we are being today is for the betterment of tomorrow’s world.”
