Nancy Chase
“Life is an adventure; to Live Well is an art”
|
“My parents were educators and so we traveled every summer”, begins Nancy Chase as a preface to her life in the travel industry, “and when I was 16, we traveled to Europe for the first time. Europe impacted so significantly on me that I finished high school, went into the Military Reserve and embarked directly into being a travel planner… and I’ve been doing it for the past 25 years”. -------------------------------- Listen to Nancy being interviewed on our radio show here -------------------------------- Before starting LiveWell Ventures Travel Services, Nancy managed several other travel agencies, both wholesalers and retailers. LiveWell is also a combination of the two, wholesale and retail, and it’s not a typical combination, but it gives all her clients the unique benefits of her exposure.
“The internet has resulted in many small agency closures and many home-based agents with little knowledge and ability to offer full services. People need someone with travel experience to guarantee a successful travel experience”.
Nancy started LiveWell Ventures in 2000 and now has 5 employees with on-site experience and knowledge of our destinations.
“The concept is that our destiny is a matter of choice”, explains Nancy, “You have to make time and make it a priority to relax. We will not be isolated if we travel and realize that we are not so different from other people all over the world. Travel is a great way to open doors”.
Nancy has specific plans for the future of LiveWell Ventures. “People are wanting to be conscientious in their impact on the environment. Publicity of new, pristine destinations can result in massive tourism and therefore destroys the area’s environment.
We work with our vendors, such as hotels, to ensure that cultural interaction with the local community happens – we have a business association with our business associates”.
“Part of our tour fee goes to local initiatives. For example, in Vietnam, we’re supplying an orphanage with a teacher to show the kids how to use their computers – not just giving them computers. In Cambodia, we’re supplying bicycles for the local rural people so they can access the cities to take advantage of the tourism opportunities our tours are creating”.
Nancy has huge concern about operating her tours in a way that leave the area she visits intact. “The movie ‘The Gods Must Be Crazy’ is a total paragon for today’s limited cultures and it can change how people today feel about preserving the authentic cultures of the places we visit”.
Married for 26 years with 2 children aged 17 and 20, Nancy is passing her love of travel on to them. They do trade shows with her and she took them diving in the Maldives when they were 12 and 15. “Diving is my yoga and it was such an experience for me to introduce my kids to the wonders of diving”.
Nancy came to Roaring Women because she did other networking with Seattle Regional Director Sheryl Spangler. When Sheryl told Nancy about Roaring Women, Nancy explored the types of membership and their benefits and became a full member.
“Mandie Crawford has been great showing me how to utilize all the web resources available to members. And I especially like that this group is very organized, conceptual and uses new thinking in business networking”.
Nancy sums up, “Let us make your dreams a destination”.
