Do you worry about kids getting to close to the oven? Do you get watery eyes from the fumes? Or what about the spray on oven cleaners – they’re truly intoxicating! You certainly don’t want children around in either case. And I don’t like leaving the house when the oven is so hot.

 

CAUTION  During the Self-cleaning cycle, the outside of the range can become very hot to the touch. DO NOT leave small children unattended near the appliance. (not just small children I find it too hot)

CAUTION The health of some birds is extremely sensitive to the fumes given off during the Self-Cleaning cycle of any range. Move birds to another well-ventilated room. (you know that those little birds are like guides for our own lungs and asthmatics as well, those fumes are not good for any of us)

 

Now It’s sooo easy. With the Norwex Oven & Grill cleaner the oven racks cleaned like new, they did not lose their manufacturers finish and they were easy to clean. 

This was turning out to be a very fun day. (there I go again having fun cleaning) I just had to try the Norwex Oven & Grill cleaner on the BBQ grills so off I went to

the deck. Sure enough it was amazingly easy to clean. When I was done the oven I just had to try a section on the BBQ.

 

 

When Dave got home I had to show him the oven and the BBQ, he was quite impressed. So after dinner he says ‘ Lets’ go finish cleaning the BBQ”. I turned on the BBQ and got my cloths ready. We heated the BBQ then sprayed the Oven Cleaner on and waited 5 minutes. Now that first swipe is incredible. It just lifts off effortlessly. We cleaned both sides of the grills and then I got carried away and started cleaning the body of the BBQ. Dave thought I was getting a little carried away.

 

  Not A Man’s BBQ Any More!     I get totally into it when I’m cleaning something like the BBQ.

It’s that enjoyment of seeing something go from yuch to wonderfully clean. After we finished the grills I was wiping down the front edges and the body of the BBQ. Dave says “You really don’t need to get it that clean.” Well I couldn’t stop myself. So we cleaned out the soot at the bottom of the BBQ and everything. I love    it, Its’ soo clean! Of course I had to wipe down the outside and polish it with the window cloth                                                                                                 

When I was done. Standard oven cleaners contain lye and petroleum distillates and come in aerosol containers. None of this is good for your health or the environment. Your store oven cleaners caution – serious health effects and are known to cause burns to skink, eyes, mouth, throat, and even stomach on contact. You can damage your floor and countertop if not careful.

I think Dave just wanted me to clean the BBQ as usually it’s his job. But the project back fired on him as he didn’t like his BBQ to be so clean. “It’s just not right for a BBQ to be so clean.” was his comment.

-Turn the oven to 100oF (mine only goes as low as 170oF and worked fine)

-When it reaches this temperature turn the oven off. Spray the Norwex Oven Cleaner on the grills and sides, back and top of oven.  There are no odours or chemicals in the oven cleaner but when it comes in contact with heat there is an odour. This is very mild and similar to the smell of the self cleaning oven. The scent is harmless but if you are asthmatic or sensitive to odours be cautious. This odour is gone after 5 minutes.

-Leave for 5- 10 minutes. Clean the oven door first so you are not leaning over it and getting dirty. If you can remove the oven door, it will be easier to clean the inside.

Do the easy cleaning on the racks while they are in the oven then take them out to finish over /in the sink. I used a spirinet to finish the cross sections of the racks they were very easy with no real scrubbing.  Wipe down the interior of the oven with an enviro cloth. (use an old one or other cloth if very dirty).

-Turn the oven to 200oF and leave for 10 minutes when finished cleaning. (this is optional)

-Your oven is ready to use.

If you turn on your oven at a later time and you see some residue you missed it is not harmful to cook with it and you will not get any fumes from the product.
